Personal Injury - frequently asked legal questions

Does the accident have to have happened in the UK?
No, we can also help you if the accident happened abroad if, for example, you were on a package holiday and were injured in an apartment, hotel, plane or even at the airport. What do I have to pay for you to carry out a claim on my behalf?
You do not pay a penny. If the claim is not successful you do not pay anything. If the claim is successful the third party will pay our fees. Either way you pay nothing. Our policy is that you will always receive 100% of your compensation.Do I have to instruct a claims management company or some other intermediary to bring a personal injury claim? No. Such companies will often charge you a fee if you instruct them. Sometimes this can be considerable and will eat into your compensation. By instructing us directly, you cut out the middleman and you will get all the compensation to which you are entitled.
I don't live in London. Will this make things difficult if I instruct you? This does not matter. We act for people up and down the country (and abroad) with their personal injury claims. We usually deal with a case by telephone and through the post which means we do not need to arrange face-to-face meetings. But if we need to meet we can often come to you, wherever you are.
Will I have to go to court?
This is very unlikely - over 90% of cases do not go to court. The insurance company does not want to waste time and money defending a case where the facts clearly determine who is at fault. For this reason the vast majority of cases are settled without court appearances. What type of Personal Injury can I claim compensation for?
You can claim compensation for any type of injury provided it was sustained in the last three years. The injury could have been as a result of you being a driver, passenger, pedestrian, you may have suffered an accident at work or anywhere outside your home or you may have suffered a medical condition or disease beacuse of your work. Making a successful compensation claim depends on a number factors - which is where we will help. Provided your accident occurred within the last three years you are still entitled to make a claim. Contact us now on 020 7420 7020 or email us at enquiry@sethlovis.co.uk to start the simple process of making your personal injury claim. How long will my Personal Injury claim take?
Our job is to get you the maximum damages (compensation) in the least possible time. Most cases are settled within 12 - 18 months. In some cases where the Defendant admits liability and the injuries are not complex settlement may be achieved within 6 - 9 months. In other more complex cases a settlement may take longer. When you receive your compensation the payment is made to you on a once-and-for-all basis. You cannot re-open your case for any reason once it has been settled. It is therefore important that the settlement of your claim takes into account all aspects of your case. If you have not fully recovered we need to know what the long-term prognosis for your recovery is and that there is no risk of deterioration in your condition. We will obtain a medical report on your condition from a suitable consultant and will advise you fully on the medical evidence and its implications.
