Commercial Litigation currently working in the Cavity Wall Damage Team
Shortly before joining Seth Lovis & Co, Chay had begun her training contract with a Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners recognised Financial Services firm based in Chancery Lane. However 8 months into her training she was unfortunately made redundant. Chay is now looking to qualify and progress as a Solicitor with Seth Lovis & Co.
Prior to joining Seth Lovis & Co, Chay had worked predominantly within Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution specialising in Insolvency, Civil Fraud and Financial Service Litigation.
She has experience of dealing with a varied and challenging caseload which has involved acting for high net worth individuals in relation to high profile cases that have featured regularly in the Financial Times. These have included managing a caseload if over 300 clients involving the mis-selling of Secured Energy Bonds (SEB) and helping to recover funds for claimants in the multi-million pound fraud involving Arck LLP. Chay also assisted in securing the release of a defendant's worldwide freezing order worth approximately £3m, she helped in drafting negotiating correspondence with the opponent.
Chay also has experience of successfully making submissions to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) and the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) for individuals who were negligently advised to invest in off-shore, unregulated property investments. These include claims concerning Harlequin, Fuel Investments Ltd and Ocean View Properties. During her time at The Claims Bureau she had numerous claims upheld for over £100,000.
Before embarking on her training contract, Chay has spent the past 8 years gaining varied work experiences including 3 months of voluntary legal placements within high street practices, 11 months spent working for a top claims management company and 3 weeks spent working for another Legal 500 firm.
Chay puts clients care at the forefront of her work; she is approachable, hard working and entered the legal profession to resolve injustices.
Prior to starting her training contract, Chay completed her LPC at the University of law, Guildford and completed her Law with Business LLB degree at the University of Brighton.
